Oil is fine.
by: ADMIN

If you see oil residue then yes fill it 2/3 with compressor oil or non-detergent auto oil.
Water will ruin the circuits, clean oil wont conduct electricity.

Thanks for clearing that up
by: Mike F

Thanks for the reply and thanks for the great forum. I've found lots of info that has already helped me by searching around here.

This is a square white motor and both it and the pump motor seem to run well but the robot mechanics are old and worn. I came across the robot sitting on the curb where a neighbor had put it out for garbage. The drive motor gearbox was noisy but a little lithium grease fixed that.

I plan to move these motors to a four year old AB Classic that is in very nice shape but has a dead drive motor. It'll be a backup.

So would you recommend putting oil in the motor case or leaving it dry with the grease in the gearbox? I'm having a hard time believing that the circuit board will be OK submersed in oil.

Mike.

Oiless Motor
by: ADMIN

If you are referring to the square white motor, yes. I have seen oiless replacement motors. If you have one, the gears will be packed with grease.
If you are referring to the round mason jar type, some are packed with grease and others have oil. Depends on the part number.
