Aquabot T4 RC

by CJE
(Glastonbury, CT)

We bought our Aquabot T4 RC in the summer of 2007. We paid approx. $1,800. for it and thought that if we took care of it, it would last for several years. We babied it by keeping it housed under a covered patio, flushed it out after every use, only used it once every 2-3 weeks. Despite this, we can't keep this unit out of the repair shop. We have had to send it back to the mfr. about 4 times now. Usually, one of the pumps goes that forces the water out the top of the unit. Once that goes, the unit will flip itself over and gets stuck upside down when it tries to climb a wall. The 1st time we sent it back, it took several weeks to get it back. Then next couple of times, they just sent us a refurbished unit as a replacement. Now in the last year of the 'warranty', we have been without the unit for the entire pool season of 2011. Since the mfr. has lost track of the serial numbers of the machines that they have been returning, they would not honor the warranty until we located the 4 year old receipt of the original machine. Now, they want to charge us $350 to get the unit fixed again. It will probably last another summer. Our local pool supply co. who sold us the machine, has had similar issues w/ other Aquabot owner to the point that they have stopped selling the line. When the machine works, it cleans well. It just is unreliable and the mfr. apparently is not concerned about these issues. We are looking for another brand.
