The polarity of the capacitors on my motor are opposite of what Carlton provided.

Brown wire to neg on cap 1.
Cap 1 + to cap 2 -.
Union - to -.
Cap 3 + to cap 4 -.
Cap 4 + to white and grey wires.

Diodes are wired the same as what Carlton provided.

Can't determine polarity on the diodes so I'll just make sure to solder them in the same configuration they are now when moving them to the new caps.

Motor fluid smells like mineral oil.

T2 with caps and diodes

I found the same thing on the motor. I'm going to try and reuse the diodes since no part reference found when searching for 0849 MUA140.

470uF 63V 105*C capacitors were used.

Yes they are necessary
by: Mike F

I am just a hobbyist but it looks to me that the diodes are there to prevent current from flowing through a capacitor in the reverse polarity. When current flows through an electrolytic capacitor in reverse polarity the capacitor goes off with a bang.

Did the pump ever run in this configuration? If it ran in this configuration and you don't have knowledge of electronic circuits then a safe rule of thumb is to not mess with it.

Are any of the capacitors bulging? That would be a sure sign that they need replacing.

Mike.
