...of the pump. I will be excited after not hearing from you for several seasons as that would indicate to me the pump is performing.

Bad Capacitors

Having to manually start the motor is a sign of bad capacitors. Not easy to repair. The capacitors are epoxied into the end cap of the motor housing.

Don't bother replacing the oil, replace the pump.
