aquabot not moving.

by Frank Melfa

I am very mechanically inclined and know electronics too. I have alrady taken apart the drive motor and it looks good. I took motor out of gear box and noticed it is a stepper motor and turns normally without binding other than the notched steps felts while manually turning gear head.

I have 35 volts out of my power supply and I have voltage coming into the circuit board inside the drive box. Observing the circuit card, I notice a bright led turn on for a few seconds labled VD1 then it turns off and the secound led labled VD2 turns on with less intensity. But the motor does not move. The voltage at the output of the circuit card to the motor reads strange. I un soldered the 4 leads that go to the motor to measure the output without the motor load assuming it may be bad.

I find that there is ONLY a 35 DC voltage present across output 1 and 3, 1 and 4. Same for 2 and 3, 2 and 4. But that makes no sense to me since based on the windings in the motor there should be output across 1 and 2, 3 and 4.

I'm not sure but I think the drive circuit is no good. I see you have a page to replace the motor but where do I get a motor? Or circuit card?

Thanks in advance for any help...
frank.
