Pool cleaner drives, pump works, but seems like it is wrong direction...

It just stopped working correctly. When I lifted it out, it seems the pump is sucking from the top and blowing out the bottom, causing everything in its path to go everywhere except inside the catch bag? Thoughts? Suggestions?

REPLY: Need more information such as model. Some pumps are DC some are AC.
