My Dolphin power switch/breaker blows immediately

Hi,
I have a question. My Dolphin Diagnostic pool cleaner has stopped working. When I press the power switch on it immediately shuts off. I opened up the power supply box and found water inside. I suspect that the transformer has a direct short to ground since I have continuity between the two wires that that plug into it. I've considered replacing the transformer with a 110 to 24 volt step down transformer but this one is glued into the power supply casing and I'm not sure that will fix it.
Any ideas on repairing this?

ADMIN REPLY: Try drying the transformer out first. Leave the case off for a week and hit the components with a hair dryer

The electric short could be in the plug of the cable OR the receptacle on the power supply OR could be a broken wire in the cable. These items can be checked with a continuity tester

This is our 3rd summer using the Dolphin which I love. But this year every time I plug it in it trips the outlet. Plugged it in to a different outlet and same thing. Can this be fixed or do I have to purchase a new one?

I just replaced my maytronics power supply. The problem I’m having is when I plug my dolphin into it, the power button stays on but the three lights 1 2 3 goes out and the dolphin doesn’t start. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Recently Ive experienced the GFCI tripping every time I plug the battery in. Im not sure why, but Ive found that if you just plug the battery in and let it charge for an hour, then attach the dolphin cord into the battery, then it will work without tripping the outlet. Weird solution but it works.

Thank goodness for the internet and sites like this.

This is nearing the end of my fourth season with my Dolphin who I call Miss May. I bought her when I became a widow and needed some help cleaning the pool alone.

She was perfect until a few days ago. All of a sudden she would run a short time (walked away so dont know how short )then she'd trip the breaker. I tried it again and got the same result..tripping the breaker. I did some testing to figure out it was her and not the power or the filter. Then I searched and came here to read. Always start with the simplest thing so it was suggested to clean the (impeller?) a small part I could reach in and see had hair on it. So I took the hair off of it.

I put her back in the pool, turned her on, and she ran great and did the whole pool with no power problems.

It was the hair on that part..holy cow!

Just called Maytronics about the unit tripping my breaker. My unit is just over 3 months old and worked awesome till yesterday when it tripped my breaker. Moved to another receptacle tripped that one as well. Called Customer Care 1-855-977-1688 and they said they would ship me a new power supply today. Awesome customer service if it actually shows up. Probably a defective batch not waterproofed sufficiently, but going forward I'm putting it inside the shed after each use as not having this scared the heck out of me. Can't face manually cleaning my pool again PTSD after doing it for 11 years :).

This dolphin power supply unit is my fourth one now the first one lasted me about 5 years after 5 years went bad I got another one that lasted about six months it was replaced by warranty that one lasted six months then I bought another one for about four hundred bucks lasted about three months now they want to replace that one with a warranty I'm about finished with the dolphin maytronics power supply the actual robot Works awesome but the power supply is crap this unit my fourth and last one when I plug it in it trips the breaker no matter if it's a GFI or not the breaker trips any recommendations after my second power supply which I just left outside on the side of my pool in the weather for 5 years no problem I ran it every day after the second one I started unplugging it and bringing it back in the house every time after I used it even with that it still stopped working anybody know of any good of the robotic pool cleaners that will last at least I'm trying to get at least 3 years out the machine or is that asking too much

I installed the new bridge and it works again. My switch/breaker no longer trips. Thanks to the information on this website.

I've found that the switch/breaker doesn't trip until I connect the last remaining wire from the transformer to the bridge. The bridge is extremely corroded to the point that one of the contacts has the strength of aluminum foil so I've ordered a replacement from inyopools.com. I'm hopeful that this may fix it but I still suspect a transformer issue. I'll update this post once I replace the bridge.

I'll give it a try. I've had the case open for a few months now so it should be dry. Any other tips if it's dry but still trips the power switch/breaker?
