Turbo T-Jet Motor and now maybe cord?

So last summer my wife pulled our Turbo T-Jet out of the water without turning the power off. I didn't discover this until about a week later (thankfully at the end of the season) and I put it away and tried not to think about it. Pulled it out this year and sure enough it was dead. I just replaced the motor but it still isn't working. I had noticed when I removed the old plug that the wires were black (burned). Should I take this as the cord is bad and I need to replace that as well?

Appreciate any advice anyone has. New to this!

ADMIN REPLY: The plug is toast (pun intended). Get some but connectors and shrink tubing and splice out the plug.
