Water in Maytronics Dolphin Motor Box

Had the same unit for 3 years and it suddenly stopped working. Tried calling Tech support and no one would talk to me. I tested the transformer and cord and they tested fine. I figured I might as well take the motor box apart since it was out of warranty. To my surprise there was 2 inches of water and dirt inside. I cleand it all up and tested the motors, which were still working. The motor board is another matter, I tried to clean it up but the unit will not run. I finally got to talk to a "tech" at Maytronics but it was a waste of time...I know more about the junk they sell than he did. I made numerous calls trying to purchase a motor board but they will not sell me one. I have to buy the entire motor box assembly. I've decided to cut my losses and buy a different brand and I will continue to bad mouth Maytronics as they have the worse customer service on the planet.

water in the motor box
by: Anonymous

I think perhaps running in too cold of water may cause the eventual flooding in the motor box. I took mine apart, cleaned it up and need to replace a resistor which I bought on line. Viola
The values and recommended wattage for the resistors is:

R14 0.5 Ohm 3 Watt

R31 18 Ohm 3 Watt

R43 0.1 Ohm 3 Watt

Maytronics Sucks
by: Chuck

I called Maytronics and they emailed me back a PDF to fill out and send in with the DX6.
Spent $85 to mail it and they return it to Staples, where I shipped it from. Just added a paper copy that I was missing an RMA number. Why email the directions for packaging and shipping then?

Nobody home!

Been trying for two weeks to get a response from Maytronics. They don't respond to emails or service request forms, phone hold times run 20 minutes plus, and live web support is never working. Definitely the worst Customer Service I've ever seen. How they remain in business is a mystery!

by: Randy B

Had the same issue with board failure - Found an outfit called Circuit Board Medics who was able to repair the board.
