Dolphin power supply keeps tripping GFI switch

by El

I have a brand new power supply, only used it last season for about 2 months. I've recently opened the pool and when I plug in the power supply it trips the switch. What is the problem?
ADMIN REPLY: Tough one. Does it work on a regular outlet? Problem could be in the GFI itself. Plug another appliance into the outlet and see if it trips.

May have solved the mystery
by: KT

Saw on Fixya a comment that the tripping of the switch may be due to the load pulling from starting up a large motor...My cleaner sometimes works and other times doesn't and I have a variable speed pool pump, I wondered if having the pool pump on high and the dolphin running was the issue...so I turned off the pump it works again. Tested it with the pump on and GFI tripped it again. I could have an electrician out to run the GFI outlet to a dedicated breaker, but will probably just turn off the pump or turn it to low when I want the cleaner to work.

Almost same issue
by: KT

Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Have noticed that if the blue cord leading to the unit is not plugged into the power box, there are no issues. It can run, it is only when that is plugged in that it trips. New power supply box, and new motherboard. Piece of junk really, but we've put so much money into it already...Now i think I need to buy a $200 cord??

Dolphin Active 10 keeps tripping my GFI
by: Brian

I have the same issue. I've been using my Dolphin Active 10 this season and it's worked fine. Now for some reason when I connect it to an outlet it trips the GFI. I've tried different outlets, and I've disconnected the power supply from the bot and it's still doing the same thing. It's only a year old and this is my second year using it. What steps can I take to care for the unit?
