Depends on your mechanical ability
by: Admin

It can be difficult. There are instructions for disassembly on the site.
If I were diagnosing this motor, I would remove it from the robot and remove the top carefully so as not to damage the gasket.
Then I would remove the motor and gear assembly leaving wiring intact.
Using alligator clip jumpers,I would power the motor on the bench to see if the gears are binding. Then I would remove the gear set (four screws, I believe) and power the motor again to see if it runs properly with no mechanical load.
The motor housing is filled with oil and must be drained, exercise care when opening. The wires must be unwound to avoid breaking when removing the motor.
No repair shop will do this for you. You have nothing to lose by trying it as it appears you need a new motor no matter.

Drive motor works intermittently
by: Dom

The drive shaft isn't spinning but it's making noise when the wheels stop. The wheels are very hard to move, but If I turn them, they sometimes begin to spin again. Also, if I wait a few minutes and turn the bot back on, it's works as normal for a little while then repeats above. Can it be the gears and is it a difficult fix?
Thanks,

Is the motor spinning while the wheels are not?
by: Admin

If you can hear the motor spinning but the drive shaft is not, then the problem would be the gears inside the case.
If the motor is shutting down completely then the problem is electrical and a new motor would be the cure.
I have gear sets.

Drive motor intermittently
by: Anonymous

I checked it again. It started fine, then after a few minutes the wheels stopped moving while pump was working. While in the water I turned it over and noticed the drive shaft was not moving. I then turned the wheels for about a minute then it began to move normally again. What causes this and will be reoccurring?
Thanks,

Drive motor works intermittently

The motor is definitely stopped. I checked the shaft and it's not moving. If turn the unit off and wait a few minutes, then turn it on, the motor runs agin. Are there any used motors for sale? It's a aquabot classic model.

Thanks,
Dom
