Fuse keeps blowing out.

by Joe Yakimow

I have a Dolphin Dianogontics #4 and the fuse keeps blowing out every time I put the switch on.

How much is a new power supply? Is it something I can fix? Thanks, Joe Yakimow.

REPLY: The problem is most likely a broken wire in the power cable, bad socket on power supply or bad plug end on the cable or even a bad fuse.

You can diagnose with a multimeter continuity check on each component.
NEVER CHECK CONTINUITY WITH POWER ON!

fuse blowing

If your fuse keeps blowing, yes, a cable "COULD" be the problem but, the power cables are ALL before the fuse so that more than likely isn't the problem. The cable TO the cleaner in the pool 'could' be the problem there, but, the power supply unit that has the fuse (power pack), has a connector where the cable to the cleaner plugs in. UNHOOK that cable and does it blow a fuse? if it does then it is the cable or the motor unit. If it DOES NOT then the power pack has a bridge rectifier which takes the power from AC to DC, and that is the first thing I would suspect. unhook the output of the transformer to the rectifier (plug in connectors), does it blow a fuse now? if not then the problem is after the transformer and before the output cable. I attached the output of the transformer to the rectifier but uplugged the output of the rectifier to the circuit board and tested mine. IT BLEW THE FUSE so, I have a new rectifier on order and I'll see if that fixes it. EVERYTHING is just electronic parts that can be replaced, just look up the numbers on them. :)

Not all units have a fuse

Not all robots have a fuse.
Good chance you have a broken wire in the cable. A continuity test will tell.
